Water-Saving Efficiency and Inequality of Virtual Water Trade in China

چکیده
Virtual water trade is widely considered as a potential method to solve local shortage and unequal distribution. However, limited research investigated water-saving efficiency inequality of inter-provincial virtual trade. In this study, we sought explore issue within China based on the 2015 input-output data. A multi-regional model modified were used estimate its impact inequality. Our results suggest that: (1) The total flow across country 200.03 × 109 m3, which accounts for 32.77% withdrawal. agriculture sector contributes highest proportion (73.99%) flow. (2) could decrease withdrawal by 446.08 m3 compared with under no-trade situation at national level, 22 provinces gain benefits through positive index. (3) also causes inequality, exacerbates scarcity exported provinces, especially in northwest provinces. (4) There conflict between conservation but different show significant heterogeneity.

Virtual water trade: an assessment of water use efficiency in the international food trade
Amid an increasing water scarcity in many parts of the world, virtual water trade as both a policy instrument and practical means to balance the local, national and global water budget has received much attention in recent years. Building upon the knowledge of virtual water accounting in the literature, this study assesses the efficiency of water use embodied in the international food trade fro...
متن کاملSurvey of Virtual Water Trade and its Impact on Water Productivity in the Shoshtar MianAb irrigation and Drainage Network
Water is the first and foremost limiting factor for agricultural production, and undoubtedly, water crisis is considered as one of the international challenges for governments and human societies. Given that virtual water was first used as a way to tackle water scarcity in countries with limited water resources, so that countries with low water should import food from abundant countries...
متن کاملsimulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
Virtual water trade and development in Africa
A debate has long existed on the relationships between human population, natural resources, and development. Recent research has expanded this debate to include the impacts of trade; specifically, virtual water trade, or the water footprint of traded commodities. We conduct an empirical analysis of the relationships between virtual water trade, population, and development in Africa. We find tha...
متن کاملVirtual scarce water in China.
Water footprints and virtual water flows have been promoted as important indicators to characterize human-induced water consumption. However, environmental impacts associated with water consumption are largely neglected in these analyses. Incorporating water scarcity into water consumption allows better understanding of what is causing water scarcity and which regions are suffering from it. In ...
